Liverpool FC fans confused as Steven Gerrard catches up with Martin Skrtel

Liverpool FC fans couldn't believe the difference in Martin Skrtel as he posed for a picture with Steven Gerrard.

The former professional footballer is sporting a vastly different look to his shaven-headed days at Anfield. The 37-year-old now seems to have a similar hairstyle to his friend's with a head full of hair swept over to one side.

As the men stood together, both dressed in jeans and a jumper, Gerrard captioned the Instagram post: "Nice catching up @martin37skrtel #MS37." But fans were stunned and said it "couldn't really be him".

One user said: "He's got hair now???" Bren said: "Cant be the real Skrtel. This guys got hair."

A third added: "I didn’t recognize him with hair". Another said: "Skrtel with hair is scarier than bald Skrtel."

Skrtel joined Liverpool FC for £6.5 million in January 2008. After eight-and-a-half years with Liverpool, where he played 320 official games and scored 18 goals, he joined Fenerbahçe.

He went on to spend three seasons at the club before an ill-thought-out move to Atalanta where he spent just three weeks. In August 2021, Skrtel returned to Slovakia after 17 years to play for Spartak Trnava. Skrtel is a four-time Slovak Footballer of the Year and was named Liverpool's Player of the Year for the 2011/12 season.
