Liverpool FC fan missed out on £95,000 cash out prize in hope of quadruple win

A Liverpool FC fan who put a bet on the Reds winning the quadruple missed the chance to cash out at £95,000.

Tanya Hanley rejected a huge £95,000 cash out offer when Manchester City were 2-0 down to Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League season. Tanya turned down the option of cashing out holding out hopes of landing a gigantic £367,000 from a £100 bet placed before the season started.

Liverpool FC play Real Madrid in the final of the Champions League this evening (May 28). Tanya gambled on the Reds clinching the Premier League title on the last day after trailing Manchester City for much of the season - and then going to Paris and winning their seventh European title.

But with Manchester City's five-minute comeback Tanya missed out on the chance of a life-changing amount of money that seemed just a pipe dream when she placed the 3671/1 bet before the season started.

Speaking to Betfair the day before the Premier League finale, Tanya said she predicted "something big would happen. I just had a feeling Liverpool could do it.

"I opened my account and placed my first ever bet. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be...everyone is saying I've got balls of steel."

Tanya's cash out option fluctuated throughout the season but peaked at an all-time high of £95,000 when Manchester City went 2-0 down versus Aston Villa. But Tanya turned down the option wanting to take it to the very end.

She told Betfair: "I've never bet so it was all about the feeling, really. I'm taking it right to the end - I believe they can do it. It's a magical moment."

Betfair tweeted minutes after the final whistle that "Tanya didn't cash out" leaving fans who had been following the incredible story devastated. Betfair ambassador Dimitar Berbatov, a former footballer for Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, got wind Tanya had missed the cash out option and "stepped in".

Tanya was offered a consolidation money prize of £1,215 - the final cash out offer Betfair gave her. In a tweet Betfair added: "It's only fair."

Although Tanya missed out on the chance of winning an astonishing amount of money the Reds still have the chance to bring home a third piece of silverware to add to their Carabao and FA Cup trophies. The Reds play Real Madrid in Paris at 8pm tonight.
