Paul Scholes has admitted he fancies Liverpool to win the title, despite Erling Haaland's impressive Premier League debut on Sunday.
Haaland bounced back from an underwhelming performance in the Community Shield to silence his critics, scoring two goals as Manchester City cruised to a 2-0 win against West Ham. In the build-up to the game, many questioned whether the 22-year-old would be able to adapt to his new team and the Premier League quickly enough, but his exploits at the London Stadium gave a strong indication of what is to come.
Pep Guardiola will be hoping that Haaland's goals will propel City to a fifth league title in six years and a third consecutive crown. Only Manchester United have ever won three on the bounce, and former Reds midfielder Scholes doesn't think that is going to change come the end of the season.

"They [City] are possibly favourites but, as I said, I fancy Liverpool slightly," Scholes said while appearing on Premier League Prodcuctions' Matchday Live.
"However, you can't write off Manchester City. They are a brilliant football team. They are changing a little bit, in transition, I think, with Haaland coming in.
"It will be interesting. Manchester City can win the Premier League, of course they can, because they are a brilliant football team."
After the opening game of the season City hold a two-point advantage over Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp's side drew 2-2 with newly-promoted Fulham on Saturday. Mohamed Salah and summer signing Darwin Nunez were amongst the goals, the latter continuing his run of good form after he scored against City in the Community Shield.
