Liverpool favourite Dirk Kuyt details chat with Man United boss Erik ten Hag at Ibiza airport

Liverpool legend Dirk Kuyt has opened up on a conversation he had with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag in Ibiza airport this summer.

Kuyt has previously spoken about his admiration for Ten Hag. Speaking in April the ex-forward said: "I think [Ten Hag] is probably one of the best coaches around now. So it is pretty interesting to see how he will do now at Manchester United."

When the former Liverpool man and the current United boss met on the Balearic Island this summer, Ten Hag was keen to share some advice for his fellow countryman. Discussing Liverpool's start to the season with the Mirror, Kuyt said: "If Jurgen [Klopp] and I stick to our vision then the change will come.

"That is the most important thing to hold onto — I have learned from all the top managers I have spoken with. In the summer, Erik ten Hag told me this when we met at the airport in Ibiza when we were on our holidays."

It is not only Klopp who is in need of Ten Hag's advice at the moment. Kuyt's Ado Den Haag side currently sit 17th in the Dutch second division with just four points from six matches.

Ten Hag himself has proven that sticking to the vision can result in positive performances eventually. His first two matches in the Premier League ended in defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion and Brentford but the Reds have since managed to turn the corner with four straight victories in the top flight.
