Liverpool fans transform Concert Square to sea of red before Champions League final

Liverpool fans turned Concert Square into a sea of red hours before the Champions League final.

From around 11am hundreds of supporters flooded into the city centre area to begin the party. By midday there was not a single empty seat and the singing had already started.

Flags, banners and LFC shirts were all that could be seen in pictures taken shortly before lunch time. Incredible footage of fans showed them singing and chanting already.

Bars around Liverpool are expected to fill up quickly on Saturday before the Reds take on Real Madrid. Kick-off is at 8pm but many venues are advising people to be inside by 2pm or risk missing out on a space.

A number of bars and pubs will be showing the match live on big screens while hundreds of supporters are also expected to head to the M&S Bank arena to catch the match.

Over in Paris, French police have stepped in to close an LFC-themed pub in Paris ahead of the Champions League final.

The Reds will take on Real Madrid at the Stade de France, just north of the city, this evening. Local police were seen shutting down the Kop Bar, a Liverpool-themed pub in the city, after hundreds of football fans gathered there on Friday afternoon.

A post on the Kop Pub Paris' Facebook page said: "For safety reasons kop bar will be closed tomorrow Saturday." According to local authorities up to 70,000 fans are expected to descend on the capital with some driving for 10 hours to reach the match.
