Liverpool fans say same thing after Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United lose

Liverpool fans have been reacting to the latest results in the Premier League that may affect their side's top-four chances.

The Reds are battling to finish in the Champions League qualifying spots in the top flight. Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently in sixth place with 39 points taken from their first 24 fixtures.

And Saturday’s matches have seen two of Liverpool’s biggest rivals for the Premier League's top four suffer defeat. Newcastle United lost 2-0 at Manchester City in the lunchtime kick-off before, perhaps even more crucially, Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 1-0 at Wolves.

Those results leave Liverpool six points adrift of the top four with two games in hand on fourth-placed Tottenham. Plus, the Reds are due to face Spurs at Anfield in the Premier League at the end of April.

Following the latest results, plenty of Liverpool fans took to social media to make a similar point. And the majority explained why Sunday’s home match against third-placed Manchester United now has even greater importance.

RM: “Liverpool we got all the results we wanted today, Over to you.”

Aled: “Top four is on Liverpool let’s do it.”

Muhammad: “And in other news, Spurs also lost. We have a genuine chance now. Please beat them [Man United] tomorrow.”

Smithy: “Liverpool need to win tomorrow with Spurs and Newcastle dropping points, three points would really put us in the mix for a top four finish.”

Unklerupert: “Spurs lose, Newcastle lose, time to step up tomorrow at Anfield.”

Kadz: “Spurs losing Newcastle losing please Liverpool get the win tomorrow.”

Dan: “Those Newcastle and Spurs results are brilliant for us, but only if we do our job tomorrow. A huge three points up for grabs.”

Chris: “Spurs lose. Newcastle lose. We have to win tomorrow, Reds.”

James: “Newcastle & Spurs both lost, massive if we win tomorrow.”

Liverpool will go into the game with United having taken 10 points from the last 12 in the Premier League and keeping four successive clean sheets. Their opponents are in even better form, having not lost any of their last 11 games after going down 3-2 at Arsenal in the top flight.
