Liverpool fans party in queues outside Paris fan park before Champions League final

Liverpool fans are enjoying an "electric atmosphere" as thousands of supporters have arrived near the fan zone in Paris.

A sea of red shirts surrounded the Cours de Vincennes area in the south-east of the city, with smoke billowing into the air as flares are let off. Fans can be heard belting out Virgil Van Dijk's song as well as chanting about Andy Robertson, with a number of banners being flown.

Reds fans were jumping up and down, clapping, and some banging on tables as they sang in the street. LFC are hoping to lift the Champions League trophy for the seventh time tonight after last winning the league in Madrid in 2019.

One fan said the atmosphere was "electric", while another said the Reds have "taken over". A third said "Scouse know how to pre final".

Another said shared footage from the queues outside the fan park where Liverpool fans held an 'impromptu' party as they waited to get inside.

Among those having made the trip to Paris is former LFC star Lucas Leiva. The midfielder shared a series of photos of him and son Pedro in Paris on Twitter.

The photos show the two outside the Eiffel Tower and Arc De Triomphe. Reds fans were loving the images, with many making a joke involving his famous catchphrase. Steff Smith said: "LUCKYYYYYY", while Cllr Jason Walsh said: "Luckyyyyy!".

Ahead of the match, Merseyside Police have warned fans about wearing any football club memorabilia while in the Champs Elysees area. The force were informed by officials in Paris that it is prohibited for anybody to wear 'any football club colours' in the area between 3pm on Thursday, May 26 until Sunday, May 29 at 6pm.
