Sadio Mane missed the opportunity to fire Senegal into an early lead in the Africa Cup of Nations final, which Mohamed Salah may well have played a part in.
Less than ten minutes into this evening’s showpiece fixture, Senegal were awarded a penalty after a clumsy challenge from defender Mohamed Abdelmonem on full-back Saliou Ciss.
Mane stepped up to take the spot-kick but saw his effort saved by keeper Gabaski, who correctly guessed the Liverpool forward would aim for the left side of the goal.

Prior to the penalty being taken, Salah took the opportunity to speak to the Egypt goalkeeper, which many fans thought was likely to have shared some crucial advice on his Reds team-mate.
Whatever was said ultimately put off Mane, who kicked off this year’s AFCON tournament by dispatching a match-deciding penalty in Senegal’s opening group stage game against Zimbabwe.
