Liverpool fans mock ex-Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel after bizarre Alisson criticism

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel felt the heat of the Liverpool fanbase after his strange criticism of Alisson Becker.

Schmeichel, working for beIN Sports during the World Cup, was asked to weigh up the competition among Brazil's goalkeeping ranks. Reds stopper Alisson has started all four of the Selecao's games in Qatar thus far - although he was strangely substituted off in the 4-1 win against South Korea yesterday - keeping three clean sheets in the process.

Despite the commanding result at the 974 Stadium, Alisson was forced into a string of top quality saves as the only remaining Asian side in the competition pushed to close the gap. But Schmeichel oddly criticised the Liverpool man with claims 'there is always a mistake'.

"If you can point anything towards Alisson. Everything (he has) is the traditional goalkeeping saving. One v One. all of that. Coming for crosses, he’s very good. But there is always a mistake," the Dane said. "It’s like he is overestimating the time on the ball he has. There is always something where you are a little bit worried. I never have that with the other one [Ederson]."

It would be fair to say that Liverpool fans didn't take too kindly to the criticism, mocking the former Red Devils man on Twitter.
