Liverpool were unable to avoid defeat against Arsenal this evening despite goals from Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners maintained their strong start to the season to move back to the top of the table ahead of title favourites, Manchester City. Arsenal have now collected 24 points out of a possible 27 and boast a lead of 14 points over Jurgen Klopp's side.
In what proved to be another match filled with drama between the sides, there were several controversial calls made by referee Michael Oliver which only added to the frustration felt by Liverpool supporters.

The visitors were first denied a penalty in the first half when defender Gabriel appeared to handle a ball played into the box, though no action was taken following a VAR check. Liverpool then conceded a spot-kick themselves towards the end of the contest, with Gabriel Jesus judged to have been brought down from behind by Thiago Alcantara.
Replays suggested contact was minimal, but the decision stood and the home side duly took advantage as Bukayo Saka slotted past Alisson to secure all three points for his side. Making matters worse for Liverpool fans was the commentary being provided by Gary Neville and Martin Tyler, who have been criticised in the past for their coverage when working on matches involving Klopp's side.
One incident in particular that did not go down well among the fanbase was Neville's reaction to Kostas Tsimikas' arm catching Gabriel Jesus, leading to the Brazilian forward staying down on the floor before rising to his feet after concern from both benches. Despite not appearing to be a malicious attempt to hurt Jesus, Neville had other views and was adamant the Liverpool left-back was fortunate to escape punishment.
Featured below are some of the reactions to the Sky Sports duo of Neville and Tyler, with many demanding the pair to be blocked from covering the Reds.
