Liverpool fans weren’t best pleased as ITV’s coverage of their FA Cup third round tie got off to a shaky start.
The Reds face Wolves as they begin the defence of trophy they won last May at Wembley, having beaten Chelsea in a dramatic penalty shootout to complete a domestic cup double.
The clash at Anfield was one of a number selected for live TV coverage this weekend, with the BBC and ITV splitting the offerings between themselves. Liverpool’s tie was picked up by the latter, although not on the channel many would have expected.

Instead of being broadcast on ITV1, as their neighbours Everton had been against Manchester United the previous night, the game was instead shown on ITV4 in order to make room for a new show hosted by Ant and Dec on their flagship channel.
That decision didn’t go down too well with fans, particularly with no HD coverage available to some, and things didn’t get any better as the channel experienced technical difficulties, with presenter Mark Pougatch and pundits Eni Aluko and Emile Heskey forced to use handheld microphones as the sound continually cut out.
Pougatch apologised for the interference, but it didn’t do much to quell the fans watching on from home.
