Liverpool’s fans have thought of a new chant for Darwin Nunez after his brace in yesterday’s 7-0 drubbing of Manchester United.
One supporter took to Twitter posting a video of a group singing in a packed pub on the day of the sensational victory at Anfield. Mick Birchall also posted lyrics of the sing-along, which could soon be a hit on the Kop:
“He’s Darwin Nunez,
Running down the line,
He’s Darwin Nunez,
Scoring all the time,
He’s our number 27,
And he comes from Uruguay”
The song is to the tune of Hound Dog by Elvis Presley, and has attracted plenty of praise on social media.
One Red said: "Glad my boy finally got his song", while another added: "Probably the one this...let's get on it. We're gonna need a good tune now Bobby is going".
Nunez has quickly become a fans favourite amongst the Anfield faithful, scoring eight goals in 15 Premier League starts so far this term.
There may be one issue with this new chant, however, which could require a change of lyrics. The problem comes from the recent confirmation that current Liverpool number nine Roberto Firmino will be leaving in summer.
His jersey will be up for grabs. Whether Nunez will be the recipient of the coveted number and switch from 27 remains to be seen, but he will almost certainly be in the running to follow the path of previous greats such as Fernando Torres, Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush.
