Liverpool fans don't agree after Jurgen Klopp makes Jude Bellingham 'Ferrari' comparison

Liverpool supporters have been reacting online following Jurgen Klopp’s comments about Jude Bellingham.

Reds fans have been left disappointed after it emerged this week that the club had admitted defeat in its efforts to sign Bellingham. The move came after Borussia Dortmund slapped a price tag in excess of £100million on the player.

Speaking about the news around Bellingham on Friday morning, Klopp likened talk of Liverpool pursuing a number of mega-money transfers this summer to a five-year-old asking for a Ferrari at Christmas.

He said: “You have to work with what you have. You wouldn't say as a five-year-old at Christmas you want a Ferrari.

“Whatever we need and want we try absolutely everything to get it but there are moments when you have to accept it's not possible and step aside and do different stuff.”

And Liverpool fans have been reacting to the comments made by Klopp during his pre-Leeds United press conference.

The ECHO understands that Liverpool want to sign at least two midfielders in the summer, with Chelsea's Mason Mount - who is approaching the last year of his deal at Stamford Bridge and would thus be significantly cheaper than Bellingham - now emerging as the new priority.

The Reds are also assessing the merits of another Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher, and retain an interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers' Matheus Nunes and Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich.

The ECHO also understands that Liverpool have long been working with several different lists of potential targets given so many variables are at play before they can press ahead with their recruitment plans.
