Liverpool fans change words of chant to serenade Ulla's role in Jurgen Klopp staying

Jurgen Klopp revealed that his wife Ulla Sandrock was one of the reasons he decided to extend his Liverpool contract for a further two years on top of his existing deal.

The news means the German manager will remain at the helm of the Reds and in Merseyside until 2026 alongside wife Ulla. The announcement stunned many given it has been widely expected for some time that Klopp would call time on his Liverpool spell in 2024.

Having joined the club in 2015, this new extension will see Klopp's Reds tenure go beyond the 10-year-mark - though he is already the Premier League's longest serving manager. The Anfield legend first met his wife at Oktoberfest in Munich before tying the knot in 2005 and joked that his new contract was all part of being a "good husband" given his wife's desire to remain in Liverpool.

Klopp confirmed the news himself via a video uploaded to the club's official Twitter account in which he said: "There’s something to announce. Like last time some will like it, some will not like it too much. If you don’t like it, stop watching now.

"I stay for another two years… and only me. No, all my coaches will as well, which is the most important actually. Why? Is now the question. Because Ulla wants to stay and as a good husband what are you doing when your wife wants to stay? You are staying."

Reds fans have understandably rejoiced in his wife's intervention and have since changed the lyrics to a song that was originally dedicated to the Liverpool boss.

The updated version of the song's lyrics are as follows: "I'm so glad that Ulla loves scouse, I'm so glad that she's not moving house. Ulla said to Jurg you know, she doesn't want to leave you know, I'm in love with her and I feel fine."

Klopp continued to shed light on what his wife had to say over the idea of staying in Liverpool for an extra two years than first expected. He added: "The most important contract I signed in my life was the one with Ulla. And that's why it start again, because actually we sat at the kitchen table and Ulla said 'I can't see us leaving in 2024'. I said 'what?'. That's how it all started and when that started I thought 'let's have a think'."

The former Borussia Dortmund manager is edging ever closer to the end of what could be a historic season as Liverpool remain in the hunt for what would be a unique quadruple. With the Carabao Cup already secured and a FA Cup final date with Chelsea next month, the Premier League and Champions League are likely to be the sternest tests for the Reds.
