Liverpool fans back Luis Diaz for prominent role as Takumi Minamino message sent

Liverpool's late January move for Luis Diaz was not the news many fans had expected when they woke up on Friday morning.

The Reds were looking set for another quiet ending to a transfer window, only to unexpectedly swoop for the Colombian star to thwart interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Diaz has been in fine form for Porto this season and Liverpool supporters were provided an early glimpse of what to expect from the 25-year-old having twice faced him during this season's Champions League group stages.

It remains to be seen as to whether or not Liverpool are able to wrap up a deal for Fulham's Fabio Carvalho before the end of today's deadline as Jurgen Klopp's side consider further reinforcements.

The Cottagers are reportedly reluctant to offload their prized asset, though are faced with the prospect of having to agree a tribunal fee with prospective buyers in the summer if the 19-year-old fails to agree a move away today.

Carvalho is out of contract in the summer and is yet to agree an extension to keep him at the home of the Championship leaders.
