'Absolute joke' - Liverpool fans ask same Chelsea question after Club World Cup badge spotted

Liverpool fans were left with the same question after the Club World Cup winner’s badge was spotted on Chelsea’s shirts on Saturday.

Reece James, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic all scored in a 4-0 win at Burnley for Thomas Tuchel’s third-placed side, who currently sit 10 points behind the second-placed Reds in the Premier League table.

The clash at Turf Moor was Chelsea ’s second league game after winning Club World Cup last month and Liverpool supporters were surprised to see that the London club were still adorning the gold winner’s badge.

The decision to revise the rules for Chelsea perplexed several Reds, who took to social media to share their frustrations.

After Liverpool lifted the Club World Cup against Flamengo in December 2019, they were only granted permission to wear the commemorative crest for a single league game against Wolves.

This was due to the Premier League ’s rules, which bans changes to club kits during a season.

However, these rules now look to have been tweaked as Chelsea have been given the green light to wear the badge until a new Club World Cup winner is decided next season.

The Blues had previously worn the badge in their league victory over Crystal Palace, as well as their Champions League win over Lille and recent FA Cup clash success over Luton Town.

Liverpool’s bitter rivals Manchester United were previously denied from wearing the crest in any league game, after they won the competition in 2008.
