Liverpool face Manchester United competition for Alexis Mac Allister as 'enquiry' claim made

Liverpool and Manchester United want Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister with the Reds inquiring the most, according to reports.

Jurgen Klopp's side are set to embark on a busy, important summer transfer window with a midfield upheaval in the offing. Recently, their interest in Jude Bellingham cooled after they turned their attentions away from their long-standing midfield target in search for multiple reinforcements in the middle of the pitch.

James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are three players who look set for an Anfield exit.

According to Argentinian journalist Gaston Edul, Klopp faces competition from North West rivals Manchester United in the hunt for the Seagulls star, Mac Allister.

In a tweet, Edul said: "Liverpool and Manchester United want Alexis Mac Allister. Liverpool have inquired about the player more."

The World Cup-winning midfielder was in inspired form when Liverpool travelled to the AMEX Stadium in their chastening 3-0 defeat at the beginning of the year. Following his exploits for Brighton and with Lionel Scaloni's side at the showpiece tournament in Qatar in 2022, he has courted interest from Europe and the Premier League.

Mason Mount is among the list of targets ahead of the summer window but the Reds are also assessing the merits of Conor Gallagher, Matheus Nunes and Ryan Gravenberch with Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo linked.
