Liverpool face major schedule change after Carabao Cup victory

The EFL have confirmed the fixtures for next season's Carabao Cup and there's some major changes to the schedule due to the 2022 World Cup.

The first round draw takes place this afternoon (Thursday, June 23) but Liverpool won't be entering the competition until round three, when they look to begin their defence of the title. While the Reds typically begin their Carabao Cup run earlier in the campaign, this year, the third round fixtures will take place at a later date of the week commencing 9 November, 2022.

Round four, or the round-of-16, will kick-off in late December (21 December, 2022) shortly after the World Cup final in Qatar. The quarter-finals will be in early January, before the two-legged semi-final ties at the end of the month/beginning of February. The final will take place at Wembley on Sunday, February 26 2023.
