The Empire Theatre was evacuated during a performance on Tuesday evening.
Just before 9pm, hundreds of people were told to leave the venue during the opening night performance of The School of Rock. Attendees waited on Lime Street and Lord Nelson Street as they waited for more information.
People who attended the performance said that there was no announcement to guide the audience, leading to "confusion" among the crowd.

Local radio DJ Pete Price was among those at the Empire last night. At 9.05pm, he tweeted: "Interesting just watching @SchoolOfRockUK we are 5 minutes away from the interval they’ve just evacuated the @LiverpoolEmpire Know (sic) one knows what’s happening?"
Replying to Pete, Julie Belton said: "We are here too! Waiting to find out what's happening. @LiverpoolEmpire you may want to revisit your evacuation process as there seemed to be confusion and no one clear on what they were meant to do. No announcement to guide audience!"
Audience members were readmitted by 9.40pm and the show resumed shortly after. On Wednesday (July 6), the Empire Theatre explained that the evacuation was the result of a faulty fire alarm sensor.
A spokesperson at the Empire Theatre told the ECHO : "Last night a fire alarm sensor was activated backstage during a performance of The School of Rock at the Liverpool Empire Theatre. The company was evacuated from the stage whilst the cause was investigated.
"It was discovered that, whilst there was no immediate danger to anyone, the system had developed a fault and so it was decided that a controlled evacuation should take place, beginning in the stalls with the circle following, whilst this was rectified. The safety of our staff, visiting companies and our audience is paramount to us.
"Once it was confirmed that there were no issue to safety, the alarm was reset. The public were allowed to re-enter the building and the show resumed."
