Liverpool 'dreaming' of Kylian Mbappe transfer as Manchester City advantage claim made

Headline news that Kylian Mbappe is unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain has sent the internet into overdrive and Liverpool's name is at the centre of it.

On Tuesday, Spanish outlet Marca claimed that the French superstar is looking for a route out of the French capital as early as January, even though he signed a new contract this summer.

Foot Mercato then went one further by suggesting that PSG's refusal to sell their star player to Real Madrid meant that Liverpool were the 'only plausible option' for Mbappe to join this winter. That has left Reds supporters dreaming of a big-money move for the 22-year-old World Cup winner, just when they need a boost after an underwhelming start to the new season.

L’Equipe believes that Mbappe could still yet end up with Los Blancos, but consider Liverpool are more likely destination than Manchester City, who have already acquired goal machine Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund to devastating effect.

The respected French sports newspaper says Jurgen Klopp's side are now 'dreaming' of landing Mbappe, but Spanish journalist Nacho González had a different view, sighting the capture of Jude Bellingham has a far greater priority for the Reds.

Speaking on Radio Marca, he said: “It doesn’t make much sense seeing how Liverpool have acted in the market. Bellingham is a profile that they need, in addition they have already signed Luis Díaz and invested a lot for him. The battle ahead is Bellingham.”

Liverpool were believed to have been priced out of a move for Mbappe this summer, with Real Madrid the only club likely to have met his wage demands, so it is difficult to see how the Merseyside club could resurrect a deal for the French international this winter.

But until his future is resolved one way or the other, Liverpool can continue to dream about bringing one of the best players in the world to Anfield.
