Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold's difficult week continued when he was dropped from the latest England squad by Gareth Southgate.
Alexander-Arnold has been omitted from the 25-man party announced on Thursday afternoon for the opening Euro 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine later this month.
The 24-year-old had been in the World Cup squad for the tournament in Qatar earlier this season after Reece James was forced to miss out through injury, making one appearance from the bench against Wales in the group stage.

But the return to fitness of the Chelsea right-back, along with the continued availability of Newcastle United's Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier, has seen Alexander-Arnold dumped at the first opportunity.
The Liverpool defender has started only four of England's last 36 games having been regularly overlooked by Southgate and England assistant manager Steve Holland.
By contrast, Reds skipper Jordan Henderson has been included despite missing the Champions League round of 16 second-leg defeat at Real Madrid through illness.
Henderson had signalled his intention to carry on playing for this country after playing an important role in England's run to the World Cup quarter-finals in December, scoring in the round of 16 win over Senegal.
