Liverpool defender Rhys Williams has denied he had any part to play in a text message exchange circulating on social media, labelling the accusation as 'nonsense'.
Williams, who was born in Preston, recently signed for the Lilywhites' rivals Blackpool on a season-long loan as he looks to enjoy a campaign of regular first-team football.
The 21-year-old joined fellow Championship side Swansea City on loan last term, though was limited to only five league appearances before returning to the Reds in January after his temporary stay was terminated.

Now hoping for a fresh start at Blackpool, his time with the Tangerines has got off to a turbulent start after a screenshot shared by a Blackpool-supporting Twitter account, 'The Muckers Supporters Group', claimed Williams had sent texts saying he 'can't stand' the club and had only accepted the move to Bloomfield Road in the interests of first-team minutes.
Williams has since moved to address this social media post by issuing the following response: "Can’t believe I’ve woken up to this nonsense, no number no name, clearly fake and you’re here giving me loads. I’ve never had this conversation, and I’m here to give 100% for Blackpool."
Biting back at the Liverpool loanee, The Muckers Supporters Group tweeted: "If it’s not true and you are saying that then we will have to take your word on that but thank the PNE [Preston North End] fan who has made it up to have you questioned on it. Pro footballer waking up at this time as well? Been pulled in by the club more like and told to reply but thanks anyway."
