Liverpool dealt new fitness concern as duo not spotted boarding Ajax flight

Liverpool have some possible fitness concerns ahead of their Champions League clash against Ajax.

The Reds take on the Eredivisie club on Wednesday night in Amsterdam in their next Group A fixture. Liverpool are currently in second place in the group with nine points from their first four matches.

Jurgen Klopp ’s side can book their place in the knockout stages should they avoid defeat to Ajax. Group leaders Napoli have already secured their spot in the last-16.

The Liverpool players and Klopp have now boarded their plan to go to Amsterdam. And there are some interesting things to notice from the photos taken from the airport.

Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konate have been pictured with their team-mates as they appear to be part of the matchday squad. Both players missed the weekend’s defeat to Nottingham Forest, but were part of training on Tuesday afternoon.

There was no Naby Keita, who despite returning to training is not eligible to feature against Ajax due to not being part of the Champions League squad. The same goes for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who made his return from injury at the weekend.

Kostas Tsimikas and Calvin Ramsay, who were both pictured taking part in training, were not spotted boarding the plane to Amsterdam. There was also no sign of Thiago Alcantara, who missed training after being absent at the weekend with an ear infection.

Long-term absentees Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz, as well as Joel Matip, are also on the sidelines. Young stars Luke Chambers, Stefan Bajcetic and Melkamu Frauendorf were all pictured boarding the plane to Amsterdam.
