The Reds' interest in the Brazilian is no secret but it's yet to turn into any concrete approach for the player. Barcelona now appear to have made the first move.
A report from SPORT claims the 25-year-old is willing to sign a five-year deal with the La Liga giants and he 'prioritises' the project led by manager Xavi Hernandez.
It goes on to say that agreeing a fee with Leeds remains the only obstacle for the transfer, but the player's unwillingness to sign a new deal at Elland Road could work in Barcelona's favour. The Belgium striker is expected to leave Anfield in the summer on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract. AC Milan lead the race for his signature and it appears a deal is now close., according to the Daily Mail.
Reports in Italy last week suggested negotiations were ongoing between the player, his representatives and AC Milan.

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly looking to 'resume talks' with RB Salzburg over a deal for rumoured Liverpool target Karim Adeyemi, according to reports.
The 20-year-old has been linked with clubs across Europe in recent months but it appeared Dortmund led the race. That was, until, reports emerged from Germany that the clubs were unable to agree on a fee for the player.
Now, newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten [ via GGFN ] suggests the Bundesliga club are willing to reopen discussions in a bid to secure a deal and fend off competition from the likes of Liverpool.
Bild adds that Salzburg are looking to recoup a club-record fee of €45m (£38m) for Adeyemi and the potential sale of Erling Haaland this summer could allow Dortmund to match their asking price.
