Liverpool 'could do Juventus deal' as Kostas Tsimikas 'exchange' rumour emerges

Liverpool could offer Kostas Tsimikas to Juventus as part of a deal that would see Adrien Rabiot come to Anfield, according to Calciomercato.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to explore midfield options in the January window as he attempts to re-balance the age profile in that part of the pitch. The Reds have only two midfield options in what is considered the prime age range, but Naby Keita and Arthur Melo have managed just 20 minutes of first-team football between them this season.

Melo was brought in on a season-long loan from Juventus over the summer, and Liverpool are rumoured to be weighing up a return to Turin with a January move for Rabiot. The 27-year-old is currently in Qatar representing France in the World Cup and he scored the equaliser in an eventual 4-1 win against Australia on Tuesday evening.

That goal was the latest in a mini-resurgence for the midfielder who had fallen out of favour in Italy and is now in the final year of his contract. Rabiot has scored five goals for Juventus this season and played a vital role in Qatar as Didier Deschamps' side got off to a flying start.

The report states that clubs could be keeping tabs on the French international's contract situation in preparation for a pre-contract agreement, but it added that Liverpool could act as early as January by offering an 'equal exchange' that would see Tsimikas go the other way.

Tsimikas has been second-choice left-back at Anfield since joining from Olympiacos in 2020, but the Greek international has worked his way into more consistent first-team action this season, replacing Andy Robertson and impressing when called upon.

The reports also suggests that Juventus would likely be open to such a deal with their first-choice left-back, Alex Sandro, now 31-years-old.
