Liverpool coffee shop described as 'one of the best' confirms closure

A popular Liverpool coffee shop has encouraged people to ‘keep supporting those independents’ after confirming its permanent closure.

Chapters of Us, in the Baltic Triangle, said it had made the ‘tough decision’ after taking some time out over Christmas. The coffee shop opened back in 2019 and had a loyal customer base, with many people expressing their sadness at the closure.

As well as coffee and cakes, the venue served wine and cocktails, plus a selection of cheese, chunky soups and crumpets. It also frequently hosted The GOOD Market, which brings together local makers.

Announcing the closure on Instagram, the owners of Chapters of Us said: “Happy New Year everyone. We've been a bit quiet on socials over the last month & taken some time out over Christmas but we just wanted to give you an update. We've had to make the tough decision to permanently close the doors at COU....we genuinely can't thank you all enough for all your support over the last few years. We've loved (almost) every minute!

“The biggest shout out to our wonderful team who have all been so incredible, we miss them loads. It's super tough out there, so keep supporting those independents. It really does mean the world to them! Lots of love, N & J”.

Many local businesses rushed to share their support and sadness at the news. Fig_and_the_wild commented: “So sad about this. It’s so hard out there. You created in my opinion one of the best spaces in Liverpool - flawless food, beautiful vibe, ethos and amazing staff. You will be missed”.

Manifestliverpool added: “So sad to hear this, you will be so missed. Best coffee and place for gifts, wine, friendly faces. The hardest times. Lots of love to you guys”. And Free State Kitchen said: “Best of luck in whatever you do next , sure it will be just as amazing”.

Customers were also quick to comment on the closure. Debs_ryan_liverpool said: “Such a shame to hear this. COU was my fav place to visit. Thanks for supporting local creatives and life drawing. Wishing you all the best in the future, it'll be awesome”.

Losdosamigosspain added: “that is such sad news. Gutted for you guys. Good luck with whatever comes next”.

sniffclocklisten said: “Nooooo...My happy place for over 2 years, one of the best coffee (and food...and other amazing drinks) spots and vibes in town...heartbroken...I wish the team all the best”.

And daniellaeiou added: “omg gutted, one of the best places in the Baltic”.
