Liverpool are on the verge of completing an £85million deal to sign Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.
The Reds have been locked in talks with the Portuguese side over the structure of the agreement having made the 22-year-old Uruguayan their chief target to replace Sadio Mane in attack.
Benfica have been consistent in their demand of a €100m overall package for Nunez. They had initially wanted €80m up front and €20m in bonuses, figures with which Liverpool were reluctant to do business.

However, Reds sporting director Julian Ward has now helped thrash out a compromise which will see Liverpool spend £64.1m (€75m) in a set fee, with a possible £12.8m (€15m) in appearance-related add-ons and £8.5m (€10m) depending on team success.
Liverpool are working towards the player undergoing a medical on Monday before the transfer can be completed. It is understood Nunez has agreed to a six-year deal.
While there was interest from a number of clubs including Manchester United, Nunez - who scored home and away against Liverpool in the Champions League this season - has made clear Anfield is his preferred destination.
And although the initial fee is short of the club record £75m spent to take Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in January 2018, the overall package for Nunez will almost certainly make him the Reds' most expensive signing.
Liverpool are expecting Bayern Munich to lodge a third, improved bid for Mane in the coming days as they hold out for nearer £42.75m for the Senegalese international.
