Liverpool classics to be performed at Eurovision Grand Final

Five classic Liverpool-born tracks will be performed at the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final.

The Grand Final will open with last year’s winners Kalush Orchestra issuing a ramped-up performance of their smash hit winning song Stefania. A handful of Ukrainian representatives make an appearance during the flag parade, including past winner Jamala alongside fan favourites Go_A and Verka Seduchka.

Sam Ryder performs his new track, Mountain, later in the show but the final interval act, The Liverpool Songbook, sees a celebration of the host city’s incredible contribution to the world of pop music.

The BBC brought together six iconic past Eurovision acts – Italy's Mahmood, Israel's Netta, Iceland's Daði Freyr, Sweden's Cornelia Jakobs, Duncan Laurence from the Netherlands – plus Liverpool's very own Sonia, celebrating 30 years since she came second at Eurovision in 1993.

During the dress rehearsals, we finally got an insight into what tracks will be performed:

  • Mahmood: John Lennon's Imagine
  • Netta: Dead of Alive's You Spin Me Round
  • Daði Freyr: Atomic Kitten's Whole Again
  • Cornelia Jakobs: Mel C's I Turn To You
  • Sonia: Better the Devil You Know
  • Duncan Laurence: Gerry and the Pacemakers' You'll Never Walk Alone

All of the acts come together in unison for You'll Never Walk Alone which acts as the highlight of the final interval act.
