Covid infections have increased by more than 10% in the Liverpool City Region.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, there were 13,546 infections in the week ending March 24 in the Liverpool City Region - that's 1,598 more positive tests than the previous week. This meant the city region's week-on-week percentage change figure increased by 13%.
All areas of the city region saw the week-on-week percentage change figure go up. The rises were: 14% rise in Knowsley; 13% in Liverpool; 15% in Halton; 10% in St Helens; 4% in Sefton; and, 23% in Wirral. There were increases in West Lancs, Warrington, and Cheshire West and Chester.

There was also a 9% rise in positive tests in England in the week ending March 24.
Liverpool
Liverpool's positive tests came to 3,669 cases in the week ending March 24, which is 434 more cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 13%. The latest infection rate was 733.1 cases per 100,000 people.
Wirral
Wirral's positive tests came to 3,360 cases in the week ending March 24, which is 619 more cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 23%. The latest infection rate was 1,036 cases per 100,000 people.
Halton
There were 1,197 positive tests over the last week - that's 152 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 15% in Halton in the week ending March 24. The latest infection rate is 922.5 cases per 100,000 people.
St Helens
There was a total of 1,528 cases in the week ending March 24, which is 138 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 843.8 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 10%.
Knowsley
There was a total of 1,238 cases in the week ending March 24, which is 156 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 812.1 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure went up by 14%.
Sefton
Sefton had a total of 2,554 cases in the week ending March 24, which is a 99 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 925.7 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases went up by 4% week on week.
Liverpool City Region
There were 13,546 positive tests over in the week ending March 24, which is 1,598 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change went up by 13%. The latest infection rate is 795.54 cases per 100,000 people.
Warrington
There were 1,924 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 24, which is 177 more cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure went up by 10%. There was an infection rate of 918.83 per 100,000 people.
Cheshire West and Chester
There were 3,595 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 24, which is 482 more cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate is 1,045.60 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage went up by 16% in cases.
England
In the week ending March 24, England recorded 497,935 coronavirus cases, which is 42,625 more cases than in the previous seven days. There was a week-on-week percentage increase of 9% in cases in England, and there was an infection rate of 880.52 per 100,000 people.
