Covid infections in the Liverpool City Region have risen by more than 3,000 in a week.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, the city region recorded 12,182 infections in the week ending March 18 - that's 3,410 more infections than the previous week. It means the LCR's week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 39%.
All areas of the city region recorded rises in infections. The week-on-week percentage change figure rises were: 37% in Knowsley; 27% in Liverpool; 51% in Halton; 51% in St Helens; 35% in Sefton; 50% in Wirral.

In areas close to Merseyside, infections rose - including in Cheshire West and Chester, Warrington and West Lancs. In England overall, there was a 41% rise in positive tests in the week ending March 18.
Liverpool
Liverpool's positive tests came to 3,312 cases in the week ending March 18, which is 695 more cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 27%. The latest infection rate was 661.8 cases per 100,000 people.
Wirral
Wirral's positive tests came to 2,845 cases in the week ending March 18, which is 947 more cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 50%. The latest infection rate was 877.2 cases per 100,000 people.
Halton
There were 1,081 positive tests over the last week - that's 365 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 51% in Halton in the week ending March 18. The latest infection rate is 833.1 cases per 100,000 people.
St Helens
There was a total of 1,381 cases in the week ending March 18, which is 466 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 762.6 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure increased by 51%.
Knowsley
There was a total of 1,100 cases in the week ending March 18, which is 297 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 721.5 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 37%.
Sefton
Sefton had a total of 2,463 cases in the week ending March 18, which is a 640 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 892.7 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases rose by 35% week on week.
Liverpool City Region
There were 12,182.0 positive tests over in the week ending March 18, which is 3,410 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change rose by 39%. The latest infection rate is 715.43 cases per 100,000 people.
Warrington
There were 1,825 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 18, which is 684 more cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure rose by 60%. There was an infection rate of 871.55 per 100,000 people.
Cheshire West and Chester
There were 3,188 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 18, which is 986 more cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate is 927.22 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage rose by 45% in cases.
England
In the week ending March 18, England recorded 463,727 coronavirus cases, which is 134,575 more cases than in the previous seven days. There was a week-on-week percentage rise of 41% in cases in England, and there was an infection rate of 820.03 per 100,000 people.
