Liverpool City Region's Covid infections fall by a quarter

Covid infections dropped by more than 25% in the Liverpool City Region.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, Liverpool City Region saw 5,561 infections in the seven days ending February 16 - that's 2,039 fewer positive tests than the previous week.

This meant Liverpool City Region's week-on-week percentage change figure was a fall of 27%.

Everywhere within the city region saw falls in positive Covid tests.

The drops were: 19% in Knowsley; 25% in Liverpool; 23% in Halton; 26% in St Helens; 33% in Sefton; and 30% in Wirral.

Cheshire West and Chester, West Lancashire, and Warrington all recorded falls in positive Covid tests in the week ending February 16. There was a 32% fall in infections in England.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 1,826 cases in the week ending February 16, which is 599 fewer cases than the previous week.

This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 25%.

The latest infection rate was 364.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Wirral

Wirral's positive tests came to 1,232 cases in the week ending February 16, which is 517 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 30%.

The latest infection rate was 379.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 521 positive tests over the last week - that's 152 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 23% in Halton in the week ending February 16.

The latest infection rate is 401.5 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There was a total of 553 cases in the week ending February 16, which is 195 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate in St Helens is 305.4 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 26%.

Knowsley

There was a total of 517 cases in the week ending February 16, which is 119 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 339.1 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 19%.

Sefton

Sefton had a total of 912 cases in the week ending February 16, which is a 457 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 330.6 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases fell by 33% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 5,561 positive tests over in the week ending February 16, which is 2,039 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week-on-week percentage change fell by 27%. The latest infection rate is 326.59 cases per 100,000 people.

Warrington

There were 779 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 16, which is 301 fewer cases than the previous week.

The week-on-week percentage figure dropped by 28%. There was an infection rate of 372.02 per 100,000 people.

West Lancs

West Lancashire recorded 373 coronavirus cases in the week ending February 16, which is 160 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

This meant there was a week-on-week percentage figure fell by 30%. The infection rate was 325.78 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 1,520 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 16, which is 867 fewer cases than the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 442.09 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage fell by 36% in cases.

England

In the week ending February 16, England recorded 258,141 coronavirus cases, which is 118,837 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

There was a week-on-week percentage drop of 32% in cases in England, and there was an infection rate of 456.48 per 100,000 people.
