Liverpool chair Tom Werner has insisted the club "obviously" want both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to agree new deals in his latest transfer update.
Both forwards have just 13 months remaining on the respective deals and it's unclear whether they'll sign fresh contracts this summer. Salah and Mane have scored 53 Liverpool goals between them in 2021-22, helping them challenge for all four major honours.
The Reds have already lifted the FA Cup and EFL Cup as a result of their impressive form and have a chance of adding a seventh European Cup to their collection on Saturday. Liverpool take on La Liga winners Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Paris.
"I’d like to keep those conversations confidential but obviously we’ve articulated our desire that they remain," Werner told The Athletic when asked about Salah and Mane. "Beyond that, I'll leave that to Julian [Ward, the new sporting director]."
Werner was also keeping his card close to his chest when asked about Liverpool's summer transfer activity. "I’ll leave the answers to that to Jurgen [Klopp] and Julian," added Werner. "They are very astute. I’m sure they will continue to make excellent acquisitions."
In terms of finances, Werner admitted Liverpool cannot match Manchester City's wealth under the existing Financial Fair Play rules. Yet they have "the heart and soul of Liverpool" on their side and have boosted their revenue thanks to new commercial partnerships.

"We signed 13 new partners over the past year, which is extraordinary given the challenges of the pandemic," continued Werner, before adding: "Our on-pitch performance helps our sponsorship revenue. And the success of our sponsorship revenue allows us to be ploughing those revenues into recruitment of players and a new training ground."
Salah, 29, has kept quiet on his future when asked. "I can't say yes, I can't say no, but I have said many times before about what I want," the Egypt international told Sky Sports in April. "But again, I can't go deep into my contract now because it is a really sensitive situation.
"The team need to win and I can't be just going into the news and just talking about my contract. I just focus with the team, and that is it... I can't be selfish and talk about my situation.
"We are in the most important period for the team so I have to just talk about the team, focus on what is coming with the team and that is the most important thing. That is all I can say. Hopefully we are going to be more optimistic and see what is going to happen."
Salah is expected to provide a more revealing update about his future after Saturday's Champions League final. Mane has not said much about his future, either. Like Salah, the 30-year-old is expected to make a decision once the 2021-22 campaign is wrapped up.
"We talk a lot with Liverpool but currently we are not talking about a contract extension, we are waiting for the end of the season," said Mane's agent Bjorn Bezemer in March.
