Liverpool will look to book their place in the Champions League final on Tuesday night when they travel to Villarreal, fresh from beating Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp made five changes to his side for the trip to St. James’ Park as he continues to manage his squad in chase of an unprecedented quadruple, with Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara and Ibrahima Konate all dropping to the bench, as Naby Keita ’s strike sealed a 1-0 win against the Magpies.

Having failed to get the 12.30pm kick-off against Newcastle moved, the Reds will have minimal recovery and preparation time before they travel to Spain, with a rotated steam again to be expected. And with a number of big guns set to return to the Liverpool starting XI, we take a look at some of the changes the German could make against the La Liga outfit.

Garth Crooks names Liverpool player more important than Mohamed Salah

BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks has named the Liverpool player he believes is more important than Mohamed Salah this season.

The Reds were back in Premier League action over the weekend as they beat Newcastle United 1-0 at St James' Park to keep the pressure on leaders Manchester City. Naby Keita scored the only goal of the game as Jurgen Klopp's side briefly moved back to the top of the table.

And following the match, Crooks picked two Liverpool stars in his team of the week - and added that he believes the Football Writers' Association selected 'the wrong' Red (Salah) for their Footballer of the Year award.
