Liverpool Champions League winner set for release after Luis Diaz admission

Here are your Liverpool morning headlines on Saturday, 23 April.

Sturridge's Australia struggles

Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge's time in Australia has been a failure according to Perth Glory's chief executive Tony Pignata.

Sturridge joined the club and was seen as a major signing, 18,000 fans turned up for his first game. But injuries have restricted the England striker to just five games and zero goals and Sturridge has not played since February. And Pignata has now said that there will not be an offer of a contract extension for Sturridge.

“He’s training and there’s potential that he could play some minutes this week and then finish off the season. Next year? Look, I doubt that we’ll offer him another contract,” Pignata told SEN’s The Global Game, via The Guardian .

Henderson's increased role

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has seen his role develop over the past season.

But that's not to say he doesn't play an important role at the club, evidenced by what January signing Luis Diaz said about Henderson and what he did when he first arrived at Anfield.

"The language barrier has made it a bit complicated for us to communicate, but from the very first day I arrived, he tried to let me know that if I needed anything at all I was to just ask him," said Diaz.
