Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan sends Julian Ward message over new signings

Liverpool chief Billy Hogan has praised the work done by Jurgen Klopp and sporting director Julian Ward over the summer.

The Reds were busy in the early weeks of the transfer window when they brought in three new signings. Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay have all been added to the ranks at Anfield this summer.

This summer has also seen Liverpool renew the contracts of some important players. Mohamed Salah and Joe Gomez have both penned extensions with the club in recent weeks.

Klopp and co are currently in Thailand for the first leg of their pre-season tour of the Far East. Liverpool will face Manchester United in a friendly on Tuesday, before flying to Singapore for another friendly versus Crystal Palace later this week.

Hogan, who is with the Liverpool squad in Thailand, has praised the work done by Ward and Klopp in bringing in the new signings. The Reds chief executive also had a message for supporters about the latest additions.

“Absolutely, particularly some of the work that's gone on on the football side, obviously,” Hogan told Liverpoolfc.com , when asked how busy the close season has been at Anfield.

“Great work from Julian [Ward] and the team, and Jürgen obviously and the coaching staff.

“Some great new signings and a couple of important renewals as well, which I am sure everybody is excited about.”

Hogan also talked about the work that has been going on at Liverpool off the pitch this summer. Three concerts were held at the stadium, and work is continuing on the Anfield Road stand expansion.

The stand, which is scheduled for completion in time for the start of the 2023/24 season, is nearing a crucial stage in its development. Hogan provided an update on the construction, and what’s to come next.

“Off the pitch, it's been incredibly busy,” said Hogan. “We had three concerts at Anfield – Elton John, The Rolling Stones and The Eagles – and then just post-those three concerts, we've completely replaced the pitch at Anfield, so there is a new hybrid carpet that's been installed. It looks fantastic and it's going to be great for the season.

“Then, also, going on at Anfield is the Anfield Road expansion and a pretty big moment coming up on Monday, where a 300-tonne truss is going to be placed on top , which holds the roof together

“It's a pretty significant development and once that is in place then we really get going on a lot of the expansion there. People will be able to see some of the coverage online.

“It's been tremendously busy in the last several weeks. There's obviously [also] some of the follow-up post-Paris in terms of some of the elements around the UEFA independent investigation, which we have been updating the fanbase on over the course of the last few weeks.”
