Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has say after damning report into Champions League final chaos

Jordan Henderson has insisted the "sooner action is taken, the better" in relation to the terrible problems faced by Liverpool fans before and after the Champions League final.

Tuesday morning saw Liverpool urge UEFA to implement the recommendations outlined in the damning independent report that laid the blame primarily on the governing body for the chaos at the Paris showpiece.

Liverpool criticised the "shocking false narratives" that blamed supporters for the trouble that occurred, saying the event exacerbated the suffering of the families, friends and survivors of the Hillsborough disaster.

And now the club's captain Henderson, who started the final, which was initially delayed due to the shocking scenes unfolding outside the ground, has had his say.

Henderson took to Twitter to say: "The Paris report needs to be a turning point for the treatment of football fans.

"No one should have their safety jeopardised by inadequate organisation. The sooner action is taken, the better."

Meanwhile, Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan says the help of supporters contacted for feedback on last year's Champions League final chaos was "invaluable" in exonerating fans.

Hogan, writing to Reds fans, said: "Establishing the facts, in the face of misinformation from numerous different quarters, was essential for the panel to reach their conclusions. Your testimony and first-hand account of what actually happened were absolutely critical in achieving this objective, and ensuring the truth prevailed.

"You should feel very proud of the part you played in getting us to where we are right now. I would like to remind you that the mental health support we provided in the aftermath of Paris is still available via the LFC website and LFC Foundation channels.

"Finally, I’d like to reiterate that this is by no means the end of the matter. Liverpool Football Club, with its proud history in Europe, will stand ready alongside our supporters to play our part and work with those in authority to ensure no football fan experiences another Paris.
