Liverpool can agree free transfer deals with five players right now

Liverpool could be primed for a huge summer in the off-season transfer window as a number of in-demand targets look set to become available.

The likes of Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham - to name just a few - all seem likely to be moving on from their clubs at the end of the campaign.

Whether Liverpool will be in the mix remains to be seen, but if they are, they're going to have to open their pockets and potentially break the bank, as the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, from this country alone, will no doubt be in the market.

Almost exclusively, difference-making players cost upwards of £40m in the current climate of world football.

With the amount of money coming into the game over the last few years, transfer fees have sky-rocketed, with almost every top Premier League club spending more than £50m each summer.

But there are ways to save money in the window while still improving your squad.

Top-quality free transfers are hard to find as clubs do not want to allow such stars to walk away for nothing.

But these five players look destined to do just that given their contracts end in the summer - and they could make impacts at Liverpool should they choose to target them.

Franck Kessie (AC Milan)

If you're a fan of a big European club, your team has probably been linked with this man.

Kessie looks set to be signed by a new club on a free transfer given talks over a new deal with Milan have so far got nowhere.

A player who has continued to improve, the Ivory Coast international is already one of the better central midfielders in world football.

Although he's primarily someone who looks to sit in front of the back four and break up play, Kessie has vastly improved going forward, with an impressive 13 goals last season, although many came from the penalty spot.

He's an aggressive, protective presence in the middle, able to adequately press opponents, break up attacks and sweep up danger in front of the defence.

*Who do you think Liverpool should sign?

Denis Zakaria (Borussia Mönchengladbach)

Another defensive-midfield option, Zakaria continues to be one of the better performers at the position in the Bundesliga.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a host of clubs, and is not hard to see why.

Playing a premium position at a high level, players like Zakaria don't usually come available for free.

He's a tall and physical player in the central positions - an area which Liverpool could look to add depth in alongside Fabinho.

The Mönchengladbach star has shown his versatility while in Germany and also has experience as a centre-back.

Boubacar Kamara (Marseille)

Kamara is a 22-year-old who boasts impressive stats, while being a pleasing midfielder on the eye.

He won the eighth-highest number of tackles in Ligue 1 last season and had the 10th-highest number of touches among all players.

The Marseille star has improved year-on-year, and continues to impress against tough opposition whenever he's faced with the challenge.

Although primarily a defensive midfielder, Kamara has impressed when being deployed as a central defender, bringing versatility and depth at both positions.

He's another player who has been linked with a number of clubs throughout Europe.

Paulo Dybala (Juventus)

The type of player which Liverpool could be lacking in their team, Dybala is someone who looks to create from central positions.

One of the best No.10s in world football, the Argentina international has scored 111 goals in 276 games for Juventus.

But at 28-years-old, and likely to command a huge salary, is he the type of player Liverpool would look at?

Dybala is almost exclusively a No.10 who likes to play in between the lines, while dictating the play centrally. Where would he fit into the Reds' set-up?

We haven't really seen him play with his back to goal to play in the 'false 9', nor have we seen him play deeper in central midfield.

Luis Suarez (Atletico Madrid)

Surely not...

Recent reports suggest that Suarez will leave Atletico once his deal expires this summer, with Aston Villa reportedly interested in bringing him back to the Premier League, reuniting him with Steven Gerrard and Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool are expected to bolster their attack at the end of the season, so could they look at re-signing Suarez?

He'll be 36 next season, and there's every chance he's not going to be close to the player he once was. But could he be an option to back up the front three? He's shown he's still a capable goalscorer at the top level.

Let's see...
