Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reveals dangerous 'high-speed' plan ahead of Nottingham Forest

Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Liverpool are working towards pairing Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez up front ahead of their trip to Nottingham Forest.

The Reds will travel to the City Ground on Saturday in the early lunchtime kick-off (12:30pm), having sealed a narrow win against West Ham in midweek. Nunez scored the only goal in the game and his fifth since his move from Benfica in the summer.

Prior to his start on Wednesday night, Nunez had been benched for the win over Manchester City as Salah played a central striking position, scoring the only goal. Klopp has recently opted to step away from his 4-3-3 approach, with a formation that has seen a main centre forward being supported by another player in a deeper role.

Asked about how the new formation has affected Salah's role when playing on the right, he said: "Not at all. It's just that we all have to defend, and Mo has to defend then slightly differently than he did in the past or in the centre.

"There's a chance we play with Darwin and Mo in the centre - that would be a high-speed combination! But we need to get there somehow.

"We are still developing this kind of system and we have to figure out how it is best for the specific game. Mo can play 10 positions and he was constantly in the centre [despite starting on the right] and finishing situations off.

"He was unlucky here and there, but it's no difference offensively - defensively it's slightly different [for him]."
