Liverpool have made a key appointment behind the scenes who will be tasked with further growing the club's commercial revenues.
The club have moved to appoint former vice president of global partnership sales, Ben Latty, to the role of commercial director, where he will replace Matt Scammell who departed Anfield last month to take up the position of chief commercial officer with Formula E.
Latty returns to Anfield having been working as group commercial director for Bristol Sport, the organisation that includes the men's and women's teams of Bristol City FC and the Bristol Bears rugby union team, as well as the city's professional men's basketball team, the Bristol Flyers, who play in the British Basketball League.

Latty only took up the role within Bristol Sport last summer but the departure of Scammell, who arrived at Liverpool in 2020 from Manchester United, opened up a return to Anfield.
The new commercial director previously spent eight years at Anfield and worked across a variety of commercial roles including head of global partnership sales and senior global partnership development manager, playing a significant role in helping to improve Liverpool's commercial revenues and bring on board new partners and extending existing ones.
Billy Hogan, chief executive of Liverpool, said: "Ben has always been held in high esteem by colleagues and external stakeholders alike and was responsible for some of our most significant partnerships during his time.
"He will continue to drive our commercial business forward and we’re really looking forward to him reconnecting with the team here."
Prior to joining Liverpool in 2013, Latty worked as global marketing partnerships manager for the NBA as well as spending five years in senior commercial roles with Fulham, while working with Chelsea before that.
Latty takes over a commercial department that has delivered a number of new partnerships over the past 12 months that includes SJ Johnson, Wasabi, Kodansha and Vista, as well as extensions to deals such as EA Sports.
"I’m delighted to be re-joining Liverpool Football Club as commercial director," said Latty, who will take up his position at the end of this month.
"It’s an exciting time for the club on and off the pitch and I look forward to working with my colleagues to continue to accelerate the club’s commercial growth."
Last year Liverpool saw a £29m rise in commercial revenues, taking them up to £217m. The Reds are expected to announce their results before the end of the month where a better financial performance than the previous accounting period is expected.
