Liverpool and Ukrainian students to perform together at the Friary

More than 180 pupils from schools across Liverpool and Ukraine will join in song with the Liverpool Philharmonic, in celebration of the Eurovision Song Contest.

The event is one part of Schools Connect - United by Music, a British Council-led project which has partnered classrooms across Liverpool and Ukraine together for pupils to collaborate and develop a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures.

The song, Don’t Judge a Book, composed by students from All Saints Catholic Primary School, Anfield, in collaboration with the Liverpool Philharmonic, focuses on the importance of friendship, inclusion, diversity and community – all values at the heart of the Eurovision Song Contest.

180 students from All Saints Catholic Primary School and the Beacon Church of England Primary School will perform the song live with musicians from the Liverpool Philharmonic at The Friary on May 12. Other schools from across Liverpool and Ukraine will join the performance online.

This event is part of the British Council’s wider Schools Connect programme, which helps education policymakers explore effective practices from other countries, and helps teachers bring an international perspective to the curriculum.
