Liverpool and Everton have been hit with an FA charge for failing to control their players at the end of Monday night's Merseyside derby at Anfield.
Both sets of players became involved in a mass confrontation which started with a coming together between Andy Robertson and Jordan Pickford.
Soon several players from both sides became involved, including substitutes who had been warming up at the corner of Anfield's Main Stand and the Anfield Road End.
Referee Simon Hooper booked both Robertson and Pickford after the incident, which happened in the 86th minute of a match which Liverpool won 2-0 thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.
The FA statement read: " Liverpool and Everton have been charged following a mass confrontation during the 86th minute of their Premier League match on Monday 13 February.
"It's alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players and/or benches conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour.
"Liverpool and Everton and until Monday 20 February to provide responses to their charges."
Robertson had initially incensed Pickford when he kicked the ball away after the end of a Liverpool attack, with the Everton goalkeeper confronting the Scot along with his Blues team-mates Conor Coady and Seamus Coleman.
Robertson's initial reaction was just to laugh in Pickford's face, and with that not being taken too kindly by the Everton players, a melee began as players from both sides raced to get involved.
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk was warming up on the touchline at the time and stepped in to aid Robertson, while substituted players such as Liverpool's Darwin Nunez and Everton's Amadou Onana, and unused subs such as Liverpool's Kostas Tsimikas, ran from the bench to also become involved too.
The charge is the latest action from the FA to try and tackle player behaviour, particularly among those at the top level of the game.
Arsenal were charged with failing to control their players twice in one week last month following incidents in their Premier League game at home to Newcastle and their FA Cup third round tie away at Oxford United.
