Liverpool and City Region see 15% fall in covid infections

Covid infections fell by 15% in both Liverpool and the city region.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, Liverpool had 3,170 infections in the seven days ending January 26 - that's 567 fewer infections than the previous week.

And the Liverpool City Region had 11,113.0 positive tests in the seven days ending January 26 - that's 1,964 fewer infections than the previous week.

This meant that both Liverpool's and the LCR's week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 15% respectively.

For the twentieth day in a row all local government areas of the city region had drops in infections.

The falls were: 16% in Knowsley; 17% in Halton; 21% in St Helens; 17% in Sefton; and 9% in Wirral.

Away from Liverpool City Region, Warrington, and West Lancashire, and Cheshire West and Chester all saw drops in positive tests in the week ending January 26.

England had a decrease of 3% in infections in the week ending January 26.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 3,170 cases in the week ending January 26, which is 567 fewer cases than the previous week.

This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 15%.

The latest infection rate was 633.4 cases per 100,000 people.

Wirral

Wirral's positive tests came to 2,758 cases in the week ending January 26, which is 276 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 9%.

The latest infection rate was 850.4 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 1,116 positive tests over the last week - that's 229 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 17% in Halton in the week ending January 26.

The latest infection rate is 860.1 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There was a total of 1,211 cases in the week ending January 26, which is 323 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate in St Helens is 668.7 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 21%.

Knowsley

There was a total of 1,044 cases in the week ending January 26, which is 203 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 684.8 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 16%.

Sefton

Sefton had a total of 1,814 cases in the week ending January 26, which is a 366 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 657.5 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases fell by 17% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 11,113.0 positive tests over in the week ending January 26, which is 1,964 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week-on-week percentage change fell by 15%. The latest infection rate is 652.65 cases per 100,000 people.

Warrington

There were 1,559 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending January 26, which is 398 fewer cases than the previous week.

The week-on-week percentage figure decreased by 20%. There was an infection rate of 744.52 per 100,000 people.

West Lancs

West Lancashire recorded 881 coronavirus cases in the week ending January 26, which is 170 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

This meant there was a week-on-week percentage figure decreased by 16%. The infection rate was 769.46 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 3,441 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending January 26, which is 177 fewer cases than the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 1,000.81 cases per 100,000 people, and there was a week-on-week percentage decreas of 5% in cases.

England

In the week ending January 26, England recorded 552,203 coronavirus cases, which is 6,105 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

There was a week-on-week percentage fall of 1% in cases in England, and there was an infection rate of 976.48 per 100,000 people.
