Liverpool and Arsenal postponement latest
Arsenal are increasingly confident that the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool will go ahead on Thursday.
There were doubts over whether the tie would be further delayed after Mikel Arteta’s side successfully requested to have last weekend’s north London derby postponed due to a combination of injuries, positive covid tests and players away at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The semi-final had already been pushed back a week following a suspected covid outbreak in the Liverpool camp earlier this month, though this eventually proved to be due to a number of false positive tests
And there were fears Arsenal could submit another request for Liverpool’s visit to the Emirates Stadium to be delayed, once again.
However, reports on Tuesday suggest that the Gunners are optimistic that the game will go as planned, after seeing no rise in covid cases and having players return from injury.

Harvey Elliott's injury return timeframe
In a perverse sort of way, Harvey Elliott was somewhat lucky when he suffered a dislocated ankle.
Fortunate, at least, in the sense that the horrendous injury came so early in his fledgling career as a Premier League footballer.
The injury he suffered against Leeds left Elliott’s Liverpool teammates visibly concerned for his welfare, at a time when he was beginning to break into Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Over four months on from the incident , Elliott is only just returning to the full training picture.
The 18-year-old has also had to deal with the potential mental impact of such a significant setback - but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has few concerns about a player he labelled as "an old soul".
