Liverpool agree deal to sign Kornel Misciur from Hull City

Liverpool have completed the signing of Kornel Misciur from Hull City.

The Under-16s goalkeeper joins the Reds for an undisclosed fee and will link up with the Academy.

The teenager joined Hull's academy in 2016 following a successful trial, having impressed for local side Burlington Jackdaws, and has featured regularly for the Tigers’ Under-16s this season. Meanwhile, the young Pole also played for the Under-18s against Sheffield United in the Professional Development League back in January, and has been a substitute for them on a number of occasions this season.

And having caught the eye of Liverpool scouts, he has now joined the Reds on a long-term deal.

"I know he was a very highly-rated young player here," head coach Liam Rosenior told Hull Live. "If the deal is right for the football club and they think it's the right thing (then we'll do the deal).

"It shows how good our academy is doing. We have top clubs that want to take some of our players. Good luck to him, it's unbelievable and shows the level of work that's going on in the academy."

Meanwhile, Hull's head of academy, Richard Naylor, admitted that the opportunity to join Liverpool was too good to turn down for Miscuir.

“We are really happy that Kornel has been given this opportunity,” he said. “Although we are disappointed to lose Kornel, he has been given a fantastic chance to represent one of the biggest academies in the world.

“It shows the hard work that everyone does at the academy to develop the players for their footballing journey and we wish Kornel all the best in his move to Liverpool.”
