Liverpool & 4 More: A Look at Teams With Highest PPG in 2024-25

We are more than a quarter of the way into the 2024-25 campaign and can easily identify the title favorites across the top five European leagues. In the Premier League, Liverpool and Manchester City have emerged as the top two title challengers, with Arsenal dropping to fifth place following a string of poor results. Barcelona is dominating La Liga, Napoli and Inter Milan are battling it out in Serie A, Bayern Munich has started brightly in the Bundesliga, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) looks well-positioned to claim another Ligue 1 title.

Kicking off the list is Pep Guardiola’s well-oiled, all-conquering machine, Manchester City. The Cityzens, who made history by winning their fourth-consecutive English top-flight title last term, have enjoyed a bright start to the 2024-25 Premier League campaign, amassing 23 points from 10 games (2.3 PPG). They have won seven games, drawn two, and lost one.

Manchester City has scored a league-best 21 goals so far, and, once again, Erling Haaland has been the primary source. The Norwegian has taken part in all 10 Premier League games, scoring 11 times.

Edging out defending champions Manchester City, Liverpool has emerged as the most efficient club in the Premier League. Arne Slot, overseeing his first campaign for the Reds, has taken them to an impressive 25 points in 10 matches. Liverpool, who are leading the league, have won eight games, drawn one, and lost one to attain the league-best 2.5 PPG.

Liverpool has found the netting 19 times in 10 games. Mohamed Salah has been the leading goal contributor, with him pitching in with seven goals and five assists in 10 outings.

#3 Bayern Munich: 2.56 PPG

After losing the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen last season, Bayern Munich are eager to reclaim their thrown under Vincent Kompany this season. The Bavarians have not played as sensationally as fans are accustomed to, but the results have been more than flattering. Bayern has secured 23 points from nine games, averaging 2.56 Points Per Game. Kompany’s men have yet to taste defeat in the league (7 W, 2 D).

Bayern Munich has scored 32 goals so far, and, unsurprisingly, Harry Kane has been the most generous contributor. The Englishman, who won the European Golden Shoe last season, has found the back of the net 11 times in nine outings.

#2 PSG: 2.60 PPG

PSG Is Still Unbeaten in Ligue 1

Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have been too hot to handle this season. Playing 10 games, Luis Enrique’s men have won eight times and drawn two. With 26 points — 2.6 PPG — Les Parisiens sit comfortably at the top of the league rankings. Marseille is in second place with 20 points.

Even without Kylian Mbappe, PSG has scored for fun in Ligue 1, finding the back of the net 29 times. Youngster Bradley Barcola has been the top contributor with eight goals in 10 games.

At the summit, we have La Liga giants Barcelona, with a mammoth 2.75 Points Per game. The Blaugrana has played 12 matches so far in La Liga, winning 11 games and securing 33 points. Their only defeat came against CA Osasuna at the end of September. Hansi Flick’s side sits at the top of the La Liga rankings, nine points clear of second-placed Real Madrid (has a game in hand).

Barcelona has scored 40 goals in the Spanish top flight so far, with Robert Lewandowski emerging as the team’s leading contributor. The Polish striker has played 12 games, scoring an astonishing 14 times.
