Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal: Gunners title bid hit as Reds fight back to earn deserved draw

Arsenal saw their Premier League title chances hit on Sunday as Liverpool fought back from two goals down in a thrilling draw.

Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus put the Gunners in a commanding lead after half an hour, but the Gunners’ winless run at Anfield will extend beyond 11 years.

Mo Salah pulled one back for Jurgen Klopp’s team shortly before half-time, but missed a penalty in a game of numerous narrow misses.

The Egyptian’s blushes were spared by Roberto Firmino’s late header, which robbed the Premier League leaders of their eighth consecutive victory and what would have been their first win at Anfield since 2012.

Liverpool could - and should - have won it as Salah and then Ibrahim Konate were denied in injury time by two stunning Aaron Ramsdale saves.

Arsenal have 73 points from 30 games, six points more than second-place City, who have a game in hand. Liverpool are eighth with 44 points from 29 games.
