"So f**king happy" - Flume on his second Hottest 100 win
By Velvet Winter
I mean, how could you not be when you've won the Hottest 100 TWICE!
"I grew up listening to the Hottest 100, so being a part of it...it's just surreal," Flume told triple j.
"It's a lot!" MAY-A agrees.
FLUME WINS THE HOTTEST 100 AGAIN!
By Al Newstead
He's done it again! Australian electronic producer Flume has become the second ever artist to top triple j's annual Hottest 100 twice (and more than two decades since Powderfinger did it back-to-back in 1999 and 2000).
His track 'Say Nothing', featuring rising Aussie indie-pop star MAY-A, follows on from topping the poll in 2016 with 'Never Be Like You' featuring Kai.
It might not come as a surprise to Flume fans. He's already a certified Hottest 100 favourite.
Harley 'Flume' Streten has not only charted an impressive 17 total entries in the countdown since his 2012 debut (21 if you include his remixes of Eiffel 65, Lorde, Disclosure, and Hermitude) but he's the only act in Hottest 100 history to rank a song in every position of the Top 5.
Not bad for a guy who got his start using software from a cereal box at age 11…
We're all the baddest of them all!
By Velvet Winter
No thoughts, just dance.
#2: Eliza Rose & Interplanetary Criminal - B.O.T.A. (Baddest Of Them All)
By Velvet Winter
A Hottest 100 debut taking out the #2 spot!?
It's not as uncommon as you might think, the phenomenon dates back to Killing Heidi in 1999 and over the years includes successes such as Lorde, Amy Shark, Peking Duk, and MGMT, to name a few.
THREE top ten spots for Spacey Jane!
By Velvet Winter
How did an indie band from Fremantle go from organising local shows and studio time around part-time work and study, to record-breaking national darlings in just six years?
Guess you'll have to read Al's piece to find out ;)
#3 Spacey Jane – Hardlight
By Richard Kingsmill
Fans right now are madly checking to see if there's anything left off the band's second album that could place even higher!
With 'Hardlight', the Fremantle band has equalled Wolfmother's longstanding 2005 record of six songs in an annual Hottest 100.
While we wait to see if they can beat that, they have though broken the record for the most songs off the one album to make the Hottest 100 when you add in the two singles from last year's chart. An amazing feat and a testament to their natural skill as song writers.
We got to half a million!

That's right! More than $500,000 raised for the Australian Conservation Foundation!

Great minds think alike, Al Newstead!
Here's Al taking a deep dive into how Steve Lacy parlayed TikTok hits into international stardom.

#5: Spacey Jane - It's Been A Long Day

Do not adjust your eyeballs! This is really Spacey Jane taking BACK TO BACK top 10 spots!
#7: Lizzo — About Damn Time
By Al Newstead
Gotta admit, it's somewhat surprising to see Lizzo charting this high.
Not because the flute-tooting RnB/pop singer isn't popular – she's charted in the Hottest 100 twice before and had another song already today ('2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)' at #36) – but it feels like 'About Damn Time' already had its moment earlier this year.
The lead single from Lizzo's fourth album Special became a huge viral hit on TikTok shortly after its April release, largely thanks to a dance routine that became inescapable on the app. (Used in over 2 million videos and counting).
Now, 'About Damn Time' has given Lizzo her highest Hottest 100 ranking to date. It proves you should never discount the momentum and love for a catchy, social media-friendly hit.
#8: Ball Park Music - Stars In My Eyes
By Velvet Winter
It's another 'missed it by that much' for the Brissie outfit who have had a whopping 13 tracks appear in Hottest 100s over the years.
The highest they've got was #4 with Cherub in 2020.
#9: Gang Of Youths - in the wake of your leave
By Velvet Winter
Oh hey, GOY! Nice of you to join us.
This is the first tune that the gang has gotten into the Hottest 100 this year.
#10: Joji - Glimpse of Us
By Velvet Winter
When y'all were watching Filthy Frank on YouTube back in the day did you ever think the same guy would be making you tear up with a heartfelt ballad in 2022?
Yeah, me neither...
