Stumps: West Indies 3-192 (Brathwaite 101, Mayers 0)

By Simon Smale

Key Event

So, still work to do for the Australian bowlers, who should have Pat Cummins available to bowl four minutes after play starts tomorrow.

Brathwaite is still there though, fresh from scoring his tenth Test hundred and will be crucial if the West Indies are able to defy the odds and hold on for a draw.

And hey, the West Indies only need 306 runs to win the game? Surely not.

It's unlikely, but this has been such a tense, intriguing game that you simply never know.

Thanks for being with us all day today, myself and Jon will be back tomorrow for the final day's play and what should be a fascinating day.

We hope to see you then.

62nd over - Lyon to continue

By Simon Smale

Might only be one as Mayers has called out the physio to check on his hand, which was rapped hard by Hazlewood on that last ball.

Brathwaite defends solidly.

Lyon just asked Mayers whether Brathwaite was protecting him by playing a solid, straight bat to all these balls.

He turns down what would have been a tight single to backward point.

Lyon fields the last off his own bowling.

61st over - Josh Hazlewood to bowl the last?

By Simon Smale

West Indies send out Kyle Mayers, so no night watchman even given the lateness of the hour.

Brathwaite is on strike though and sees out the first two balls with minimal fuss.

A single into the covers, brings Mayers on strike.

He is carrying an injury, which is why he didn't bowl in the second innings, his shoulder I believe.

BEATEN! What a ball, just passing the outside edge.

He clips that off his legs, no run though.

And Mayers defends the last, a rising ball at his ribs.

There will be enough time for at least one more, possibly two if Lyon is quick.

Blackwood is caught by Labuschagne!

By Simon Smale

Key Event

Disaster after the delight for the West Indies!

Blackwood fends the ball into his body, it drops down in front of Marnus Labuschagne at bat pad and sticks the hand out to take a brilliant catch!

Blackwood departs for a shaky 24 off 62 balls and the Windies are in some strife.

Hundred for Brathwaite!

By Simon Smale

Key Event

He sweeps past Labuschagne now and he gets his century!

What an innings from the skipper - he's only not been in the middle for only 44 overs so must be exhausted, but has prevailed.

He dropped the bat in the middle of the pitch and went back to pick it up.

Great performance. 100 off 157.

60th over - More from the GOAT

By Simon Smale

Brathwaite sweeps to the square leg boundary and Starc slides and defends the boundary - denying the opposition skipper a ton off that shot!

He runs two and moves to 99.

Another brilliant sweep but it's straight into Marnus Labuschagne's boots and no run!

59th over - Josh Hazlewood

By Simon Smale

He has match figures of 1-88, which is not a fair reflection of how he's bowled.

Two runs to Brathwaite, who passes his highest score against Australia. He moves to 96, the previous was 94 - when he was bowled by Josh Hazlewood in Hobart.

Oh my what a good ball, nipping back and bouncing right into the ribs and catching the glove as well, provoking a yelp from the West Indian skipper.

That one might have kept low off that probing length and line.

Up and down, it's getting harder and harder to bat out there.

Brathwaite has to defend as the ball comes back in off the deck again.

Oh my, quick single, that's lovely running, the ball was drifting to short mid on and Brathwaite realised there was nobody there do he hared down the pitch. Great running.

Short leg comes in for Blackwood and he defends back down the pitch.

58th over - Nathan Lyon has had enough of a rest, he's back

By Simon Smale

From the same end as he left, so he's not tempted by that heavy rough at the other end.

Brathwaite takes a single to midwicket first ball.

One slip, bat pad in place.

Quicker, Blackwood defends.

He defends the next too, and the third he faces, which was again slightly quicker. Wouldn't mind him slowing it up a bit.

Drift as Lyon does back off the pace a little, but Blackwood defends.

Solid defence.

Marnus Labuschagne under the helmet at bat pad, was incessantly jabbering throughout that over. Incredible.

57th over - Cameron Green to bowl another

By Simon Smale

CHANCE! Four! Gloved down the leg side for a boundary to very fine leg. Between Carey the keeper and Warner at leg slip.

Blackwood gets the ball rapping him on the pads, too high and leg side to be worth an appeal.

Blackwood clips the ball off his hip past the diving David Warner for a single to deep backward square.

That's the 50 partnership off 89 balls.

Bouncer, Brathwaite gets under it easily.

Brathwaite fends into the off side and they take a quick single.

Blackwood has two slips, a leg slip and a bat pad. He defends the last ball.

56th over - Head will continue

By Simon Smale

Brathwaite gets a single, of course he does. He's on 92 now.

Blackwood drives square to point and takes a couple of runs.

And again. Good shot.

He defends the next and then opens the shoulders again with an expansive drive, geting a single.

A dot to Brathwaite ends the over.

55th time - Cameron Green is coming back into the attack

By Simon Smale

Just a three-over spell from Starc.

Bouncer - Blackwood ducks under it. Green is acting as the enforcer in this innings at the moment and has been good at it too.

CLOSE! David Warner at leg slip gets that on one bounce as Blackwood fends at the ball around his ribs. He did well to keep it down to be honest.

Warner is one of the close catchers in, two slips and a bat pad the others.

BIG APPEAL! Down the leg side, they like that, do the Australians! Was it clipping the thigh pad? The umpire is unmoved so we're going to have a look.

Looks like it just clipped the thigh pad and that's exactly what happened. Australia loses a review (and only has one left, incidentally).

Blackwood clips to square leg this time and takes a single.

Brathwaite plays to cover point and takes a single immediately, as is his want.

Blackwood fends down in front of bat pad for no run.

54th over - Travis Head comes in

By Simon Smale

First time in the innings, Travis Head gives Nathan Lyon a break - or will they switch him around to see if that rough can excite him?

Head is on the money, Brathwaite looking a big uncertain as the ball flies through to Carey.

It's the fourth ball before he gets Head's measure, punching down the pitch with a solid defence.

TURN! Oh my, Brathwaite could only follow that ripping ball and glove it down past bat pad backward of square but for no run.

Travis Head time

By Simon Smale

Is it time for tricky Travis to have a trundle?

- Mike

Ask and you shall receive (a few hours later).

53rd over - Mitchel Starc again, the third over of his spell

By Simon Smale

Brathwaite chops down and defends at a ball angled into him.

He then cuts, backward of point for a single. Easily done from the skipper.

Four! Driven superbly by Blackwood, a lovely on drive to a ball that was a touch full from Starc, no foot movement and lightning reactions from Blackwood to play the shot. Nicely done.

He defends a shorter ball next up - Starc won't make the same mistake twice.

Too leg side, Blackwood had a wild swing at it but he cannot make contact, despite the feeble appeal of "catch it" from someone.

Bouncer, a good one, Blackwood rearing back to avoid getting knocked on the noggin.

52nd over - Nathan Lyon will come again

By Simon Smale

The West Indian 12th and 13th men have been out for Blackwood, and are scampering off now as Lyon debates with Pat Cummins about field placements.

Slip and bat pad aas Blackwood comes forward and defends to point, no run.

He's forward now, fending back down the pitch.

Straight drive, little more than an upright push past Lyon, who sprawls onto the ground but can't get a hand to it. They take a single.

Brathwaite takes an easy single to mid on. He's been starved of the strike recently but has taken the runs when they're offered.

Lyon sends one past the outside edge of Blackwood, who drives the next one to mid off.

Gold coin entry for day five at Perth Stadium

By Jon Healy

Key Event

After lacklustre crowds through the first four days, Cricket Australia is doing what has become tradition and offering entry for the low, low price of a gold coin or "tap and go" donation on entry.

The funds will go to Youth Focus.

"Funds raised during the Perth Test will help Youth Focus deliver frontline services and education programs which aim to reduce symptoms associated with suicide, depression, anxiety and self-harm, and build long-term mental wellbeing to help young people aged between 12 and 25 reach their full potential," Cricket Australia said in a statement.

"In addition to its core service offering of free face-to-face counselling, Youth Focus engage with communities to educate and build awareness about youth mental health issues and suicide prevention. As part of this engagement, Youth Focus deliver education programs in schools and communities across Western Australia."

51st over - Mitch Starc continues

By Simon Smale

A single down to third man/backward point for Brathwaite.

Blackwood is defending.

Two men at first and second slip, another at third and a bat pad.

Ah that ball comes in off the seam again! Almost unplayable stuff as Starc steams in and angles the ball from around the wicket into the right handed batter.

Compact defense there from Blackwood - who is 7 from 31. Is he getting more comfortable out there?

Blackwood off his hip for a single to backward square leg to end the over and keep the strike for Nathan Lyon, who'll be pleased with that.

Josh Hazlewood needs to rub Marnus' head or something

By Simon Smale

50th over - Nathan Lyon to bowl his 18th over of the innings

By Simon Smale

Brathwaite is back and fending to point. Just a bat pad and slip for the West Indies skipper.

Brathwaite sweeps from the standing position and gets a single to deep square leg.

BEATEN! Blackwood is desperate to smear Lyon through the covers but misses out and Carey whips the bails off.

BIG APPEAL FROM CAREY! He thinks it was edged, but I think it was the one that went straight on and going with the late drift.

Blackwood defends to square leg for no run to a ball that turns.

AND THAT ONE DOESN'T! What a ball, going on with the arm and missing the outside edge by almost nothing.
