Zelensky appoints Andriy Sybiha as Ukraine's new foreign minister

Ukraine's parliament on Thursday approved the nomination of Andriy Sybiha as foreign minister, part of the biggest government reshuffle since the full-scale Russian invasion two and a half years ago. Sybiha replaces Dmytro Kuleba, who pressed the West to come to Ukraine's aid after Russia's invasion and to provide it with weapons to fend it off. Read our blog to see how the day's events unfolded.

  • At least seven people, including three children, were killed in a Russian attack on the western Ukrainian city of Lviv early on Wednesday, the mayor said.
  • At least 51 people were killed and more than 200 were wounded on Tuesday in a ballistic missile strike that hit an "educational institution" and a hospital in the central Ukrainian city of Poltava, local officials said.
