Live Nation Investigating Alleged Data Breach On Ticketmaster

Live Nation detected unauthorized activity on May 20.

Live Nation disclosed in a regulatory filing on Friday that a hacker is attempting to sell alleged user data primarily from Ticketmaster on the dark web. The parent company of Ticketmaster, Live Nation, detected 'unauthorized activity' on May 20 and promptly initiated an investigation with forensic experts to delve into the potential breach.

The compromised data reportedly surfaced for sale on May 27, prompting Live Nation to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to address the situation. The company stated that it is also in the process of informing regulatory authorities and affected users about the unauthorized access to personal information.

Despite the breach, Live Nation assured that it does not believe the hack has caused any financial or operational impact on its business. The group ShinyHunters has claimed responsibility for the hack, although the scale of the breach remains unconfirmed as Ticketmaster has not responded to requests for comments.

This incident comes at a challenging time for Ticketmaster, as just last week, the US government and numerous states filed lawsuits against Live Nation. The lawsuits allege that Ticketmaster has exploited its dominant position in the industry to the detriment of fans across the country.
